April, 2002 Fan of the Month: Linda Lenz
Congratulations, you've won a signed Southside Johnny poster!

Here's my
BIGGEST fan story:
Southside has been a big part of my life. That voice, those
horns! 1979...coolest year of my life. Southside was at the
Palms in Milwaukee. We danced and sang until we couldn't talk. I
brought a bunch of friends who never heard of the Jukes and they
told me for years that it was the most fun they ever had. (I
also danced with Denny Terio of Dance Fever that year at some
weird night spot but we won't talk about that.)
I'd lie on the floor of my first apartment with a glass of wine
and my Sears speakers on each side of my head for the full
affect. If I was going out with my roommate, we'd crank it and
dance while we got ready (we got evicted from that apartment
because of Southside.)
In '79 also (late Nov) at the age of 21 I got married (big
mistake, oh well) and moved from Milwaukee to Atlanta. In '83 I
missed the Southside concert in Milwaukee that year but my very
best friend, Stacy, got backstage and Johnny autographed her
ticket to me. She wrapped it in huge fuzzy slippers, with a box
of chocolate bon bons and a housecoat and sent it to me to begin
my life as a housewife.
I Graduated college Cum Laude with a degree in philosophy in '84
and got divorced. I started life over with my new son, back in
Milwaukee. I thought I'd never meet anyone. I had very specific
taste. I don't really know how anyone meets anyone in this world
...this guy needed to have the same politics, the same sense of
humor and most of all love Southside Johnny. Individually, one
of these requirements might be possible, but to get
all of them in one person?? - very difficult. On top of all of
this, he'd have to like me, too!
I did meet a guy in '85 and he asked me out. He picked me up in
his new '85 Saab and had Southside on the stereo! We will have
been married for 14 years on June 11, 2002.
My husband Rick and I are waiting for confirmation that
Southside will be at Potowatami Casino on June 7, 2002
(anniversary party!) and "I'm So Anxious" I can barely
stand it. I need to be in front, singing every word and dancing.
A fan for life!
