January, 2003 Fan of the Month: Max Cohodes Congratulations, you've won a signed Southside Johnny poster! I would like to nominate my son Max
for Fan of The Month for January. Max turns 16, January 8th. I
first saw Southside Johnny in Boston in 1978 when I was a
Freshman at Babson College. The drinking age that year was 18,
so I was of age. I can remember seeing Johnny numerous times on
the East Coast in my 4 years at Babson, and was addicted to his
sound, and especially his energy. Time passed and I saw
Southside in Chicago where I lived, and later in New York. My
life changed forever in 1987 when my son was born.Max was born with Cerebral Palsy. Doctors said he would never walk or talk. Through hard work and effort on his part he is a sophomore in High School and is doing quite well. Since Max is somewhat limited physically his main interests are; Southside Johnny, The Oakland Raiders, and travel. Max first saw Southside when he was 11, and whenever Southside is in the Pacific Time Zone we go and see him and the Jukes. One year we arrived back from Germany on a Tuesday changed our clothes and flew down to see Southside at Humphreys in San Diego. People thought we were out of our minds, but we wouldn't miss a show. A few years ago both Max and I had the pleasure to meet Southside, and it was memorable. He gave Max his Harmonica, which is a gift that he will never forget. We have seen Southside in Vegas, and this year at the Coach House and the House of Blues. Max knows every song Southside sings but his voice is not nearly as good. South, I want to thank you for all of your years of bringing happiness to all of your fans and especially my son Max.. I raise a glass to you Southside and nominate my son Max as the fan of the month. Thanks, Marc Cohodes
