Fan of the Month: Frank Ranuro I am in a band called Soul Engines and back in '93 or so, we opened for Southside at Martell's in Pt. Pleasant Beach. Well, Southside has been one of my music idols since I was in high school, (I play the harp too), and I'm a huge fan of his music. That night we opened fir him, I stuck around (of course) to watch him play and after talking to his bus driver, was taken down to the band's dressing room and was able to meet him. He was gracious and very talkative with me. He signed my 'Hearts of Stone' vinyl record cover and invited me to go to a party with him and the band. I was shocked and tongue tied and declined his offer. Now I wanna kick myself, but I didn't want to spoil the experience of meeting him by takin any more of his time. His shows never disappoint. He always gives 110% and leaves me as physically tired as he looks at the end of a show and wanting more. He's inspired me vocally (although I sound nothing like him), and with my harmonica playing. Whenever he's in town, I go to see him play. I hope he never stops playing because he's a constant reminder that there is still GOOD music out there. Frank Ranuro Pt Pleasant Beach, NJ
