Fan of the Month: George Steele
Well here
goes...
It started back in the early 80's when 5 couples rented a beach
house in Seabrook, NH for 2 weeks. Everyone had duties and I was
voted "Entertainment Committee".
Being A LOT younger at the time we all had brought bicycles to
peruse the beach and get exercise during the day. Hopping on my
trusty 10 speed, I pedaled over the bridge into Hampton Beach to
the Casino Ballroom and found I had 2 choices for the weeks we
were there. Eddie Money or The Fools opening for SSJ & the
Jukes. I had heard of the Jukes but more of the Fools. So the
Jukes it was! I'm thinking it was right around the debut of 'In
The Heat' cause they played "New Romeo" and really rocked the
joint. Ever since I have made the trek to the Casino every Labor
Day weekend to get my "Fix." I must admit I missed a few shows
and a few years they didn't show but as of the last 10 years the
record is VERY good. On a final note, I was all set to make the
ride to NJ for Jukestock when a scheduling conflict cancelled
the plan. You'd think my daughter coulda been "Comfirmed" on
another weekend...Yeesh!
South, Thank you for the many hours of enjoyment of your shows
and music, as they are one of the last "Pure" forms of
entertainment that's left, compared to what radio is feeding us
now.
A loyal fan always,
George Steele
