April 2006 Fan of the Month: Ken
Porteous
The
next fan of the month accolade has got to go to Ken Porteous of
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Besides being a big fan for years
(Ken remembers playing Hearts of Stone at his wedding rehearsal
party), Ken deserves this prestigious award because he is
traveling over 1250 miles to the St. Paddy's Day show. There are
many eloquent justifications posted on the website for many
fans. In Ken's case, his legitimate claim to fame here is the
distance traveled. In today's music industry where class acts
seem unable to garner the support to tour anymore. Given that
backdrop, what defines a supporting fan more than the
willingness to travel over 1200 miles to finally see an all time
favorite band play?
I'll be traveling with Ken, but I live 350 miles closer making
my journey an easy commute by comparison. When the show ends and
its finally time to "go home." We have no doubt the journey will
have been well worthwhile.
