July 2007 Fan of the Month: Allan Wright
Submitted by Jackie Sheehan: To whom it may concern, I asked Allan to give me some words for this bio. The following is his story in his own words: During the early days of the Internet, I got hooked up with Debbie May's Southside Johnny e-mail list and was able to keep in touch with other fans and get Jukes information. In those early days even companies like Coke and Pepsi were still figuring out if the Internet would catch on. This was between the 'Restless Heart' and 'Slow Dance' albums. Being an employee of UNH, and having access to free web hosting for personal use as part of my employment benefits, I decided to put up a Jukes fan site, http://pease1.sr.unh.edu/southside/. Well things caught on, and before long I was getting set lists posted from shows, and maintained a Juke's tour schedule. At one point I was even getting e-mail updates from Bill Durborow for the website. This went on for a few years and everyone was happy. Although my graphic arts skills aren't anything to write home about, people could get good, up-to-date Jukes info on the page. During the US portion of the Acoustic tour, the
European arm of which spawned 'Spittin Fire', I got
the rare chance to go back stage and meet Southside,
Bobby and Kevin Gordon after a show. I was thrilled
when Johnny told me he never knew where he was playing The last notable Jukes story I have was helping out at
Jukestock running the registration table Friday
afternoon and Saturday morning. Saturday morning Hood
came to the table asking if anyone knew how to make a
Bloody Mary. Well my wife Lori volunteered and using Since Johnny has obtained some professional assistance for his web presence, my modest site has remained fairly static, but I keep it up as a fan site, and as a remembrance of those times when it was the official Jukes home page. It's always great knowing you were part of the 'Street Team' before there was one. Raise a glass.... |
