October 2007 Fan of the Month: Sam Beck
My name is Sam Beck. I'm 11 years old. I have seen
Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes at least 10
times. 5 of them were at The Stephen Talkhouse. My dad
took me to see Southside and the band on August 12th.
I had a chance to see the band with another big fan,
although I still think I'm a bigger fan. A few years
ago, at another Talkhouse show Southside brought me up
on stage and I conducted the band and also sang Havin'
A Party with him. This time I had my regular seat,
right in the center of the stage.
It was another great show. I grabbed the playlist
when the show was over to frame it with the others
that I've got from prior shows.
My IPOD is filled with Southside songs, and my new
favorite is Don't Call Me Baby, from Into The Harbour.
I went to sleepaway camp this year for the first time
and turned all the kids in my bunk onto
Southside. They all thought the music was really
cool.
My dad and Uncle have been huge fans since 1980 and
my dad shows me the ticket stubs from all of the shows
he's seen. I counted at least 60. Sometime my mom gets
mad when we play Southside in the house all the time.
And my little sister, Sophie, who is 8, is also a big
fan. Her favorite song is "I've Been Working Too
Hard." She calls it the "crazy song" because of the
guitar at the beginning.
I can't wait to see my next show. I'm sending in a
picture of me with another big fan who was also at the
show.
