April 2009 Fan of the Month: Dylan Weijsenborn
My son Dylan was born 21st of February 2009. Although he’s just a baby, he’s a big Southside Johnny fan already. How do I know? Well, I do know that he likes to fill nappies, sleeping on his daddy’s belly and that he loves to swing in his hammock. Especially when these activities go together with some wonderful music. All of them. Even before Dylan was born he already went to SSJ gigs. London, Frome, Amsterdam, Melle and Deventer. All in 2008. I was a little bit nervous about it, but really wanted to travel around with some friends and see this great band. The trips were great and I was feeling fine. And a happy mummy is a happy baby, right? People said to me that unborn babies can hear. And I’m sure Dylan did hear some things, he let me know when he didn’t have a nice time. That happened when he got a fright by sounds. Or when the support band played before SSJ in Frome. Or when I played the saxophone (was that a hint?) So before I went on the trip I listened a lot to SSJ, so the baby could get used to the music. And I think he did. He was very calm during the SSJ gigs. He even has a favorite song now, I guess he remembered it. His favorite song is 'Into the Harbour' by Southside Johnny. Swinging in a
hammock feels a little bit like sailing. His mum has learned not to put
Dylan in that thing after Dylan had lunch. Other songs like 'When Rita
leaves' and 'Tired skin', both by Southside Johnny are doing it very well
too. I’m not sure yet whether it’s Johnny’s quiet and low voice or the Dylan is also the owner of a nice Blue Asbury Jukes Toddler Tee, showing off the original Asbury Jukes logo. The size is still a little too big, but he can show everyone how cool he is. Sometimes we watch some SSJ videos on youtube together. And we both are smiling then. And that’s why I know, even when he’s still a baby, Dylan’s a big Southside Johnny fan! Sally
