It's 6:30 in the morning, the day after the last Martell's Tiki Bar gig. I should be passed out on my buddy Phil "The Kingpin's!" couch, but I can't sleep. Terminal guilty conscience, no doubt. So I guess I might as well drivel on about nothing and get Bill off my back. As I clumsy my way thru the typing of this incredibly brilliant missive, the Jukies and I are preparing to wing our way over the fruited plain (no Louis; you can't eat it) of America (whose first name, according to all the signs I see, is "God Bless" I never knew that). We are heading to the town of Avon, Colorado. Now, I've heard of Avon, New Jersey, a lovely little seashore burg wherein I misspent many a youthful moment, but I've never heard tell of Avon, Co. One of the great joys of playing in a band is seeing new places. Of course, just a few hours ago I was watching the Weather Channel and they HAD to report "A tornado in the Denver area." That's where we're flying. I'm pretty sure the manufacturer of those big ol' jet airplanes doesn't recommend flying them into tornadoes, but hey, what do I know. Martell's was a gas, as usual. An interviewer asked me recently if I ever got tired of playing the same places. Not when they're that much fun. Thanks to the Tiki staff for taking such good care of us. And, of course, thanks to all of youse for being...well, You! We are playing in southern California again this year, and I always look forward to that. It will forever gratify me that the Jukes are accepted in foreign countries. Speakin' a which, we head for England in October, which means Hood will have to pack an industrial size jar of Skippy peanut butter and twenty loaves of Wonder bread. The rest of us will ravage that poor island like a horde of savage locusts descending on a Mormon wheat field. Them limeys don't stand a chance! All in all, it's been a grand and glorious summer. Lots of playing and a great reaction to the new CD. Thanks for all the nice compliments on the web site. Yes, I read 'em, but you'll be glad to know I don't correct your grammar. I'm just happy that anyone cares enough to write in, even the snarkier ones. Well, must go pack. The tornado
awaits!
