Ah Spring, when an old man's fancy turns to...uh...I forget. Now I know, I know...it ain't spring just yet. Well, WRONG! It's spring if I say it's spring, goddammit! I NEED some Spring right about now, and so do most of you. Oh sure; not the ones who live in California, or Florida, or, like, Guam. But us Northerners have endured a dreary, wet, cold-but-no-fun-snow winter. Plus, gigs have been too few and too far in between. Can I get a witness? But all that is about to be remedied by this glorious sun of York...I mean, spring. Any day now,any day now. In the interrum, I have been writing, but Le Jukes have not gotten into the studio. Any day now, any day now. Yes, the Tom Waits Big Band wahoo is finished, but so far no record company has run with it. I will be putting it up on the website in a month or so...maybe two....maybe by 2073...if none of these geniuses in The Music Biz step up and act right. And yes, that's a threat.
We are in the process of revamping the site, but I of course am completely in the dark as to what, when, wherefore, etc. Oh, as to the MySpace page? I really don't know anything about it. Hey, half the time I don't know my own name. Do you? Well don't tell me, let me guess. Maybe I post up whatever's on there in my sleep. FYI, I have no squirrel problem. As long as they fit in the microwave, I'm good. Now, neighbors.....
It is my fervent hope and nightmare to get the Jukes into the studio this year. I also want to make an acoustic CD. And LaBamba is already at work on another Big Band project. Busy busy busy. I think I'll go lay down.
But first, a puzzlequiztestcontestprizethingie.
The best response to this question will receive my hand written set list on a ripped piece of cardboard from New Years Eve. (pictured to the right)
Now who wouldn't fight to the death for that? Here's the question:
"Is it further to New York, or by bicycle?"
Have at it, friends. You have two weeks to get your entries in, and oh yes...I am the only Judge in these here parts. Please my sense of insanity, and your life will be changed forever.
Welcome back, Smokey. Email your answers to nyorbicycle@southsidejohnny.com
