What was it about? It was about vegetables. It was about 2 minutes.

It was one of those goofy little songs that happen every now and then. Anybody else have any insight?

Anyone else think that the 2 songs the Stones have released off their new album sound like they came outta the Southside closet?

Though I wasn't at the Basie NYE Bash I purchased the "Leroy Basement Vol 1" from the store and am really enjoying it. To me it's like taking some of the better cuts from Jukebox and putting them on one CD. Lucky those who made the show and who says SSJ is a Grinch?? LOL Thanks for always thinking of your fans. I'm enjoying this CD in my car especially the opening cut..."Walk Away Renee". You've got Bluesy and Acoustic gems and "Walk Away" with Tom Waits. Anything with "Tired Skin" tickles my fancy so Thanks Johnny and the Jukes. See you all down the line and God Bless. 8-)

@johnh, if you scroll down a little you'll see that Lin had an extra in the front row -- maybe she's still got it. Good luck!

Carol - thanks for the reply on the spam issue. I didn't realize it was that bad and I appreciate all the time and effort you put into the board.

Question - Is the new Leroy's Basement CD tracks that have previously been released, or are these different versions? Glancing over the list of tracks, it looks like they've all been released previously in one form or another.

Lin! In an earlier post you referenced the Billy Walton Band playing in New Hope. Billy will be at John & Peters with his band on Sat Mar 2nd. There will be another date in April. The BWB will be leaving for the UK soon (Jan 25- Feb 5). Another tour is tentatively set for the second half of May. A really cool event we will be playing is the Biloxi Beach Jam. You can find more at www.biloxibeachjam.com Vini Lopez will be making the trip too as well as Beaver Brown. Eric Burdon is the headline act. There are some amazing New Orleans acts involved. That's March 7-10. Email us at webmaster@billywaltonband.com if you have any questions. Thanks!

Yeah, that spam is the worst. I clean it up when I get home from work, but I can't do anything from where I am now. As far as preventing it, we do what we can to make it hard for the spammers without inconveniencing the real people, but we can't block all of it. If it helps, there are about 100 new spammer accounts set up every day and only a few result in actual spam.

More requests for the Feb. 23rd show.....

A Change is Gonna Come
Blind Willie McTell
Satan's Shoes

and how about something really different....a little Sinatra? Southside's choice...but I do like The Lady is a Tramp....or
maybe a medley.....

You know, it could really, really, be a mistake to ask us for suggestions....or maybe just a great way to amuse us through the worst of the winter.....

I have another thought....How about another show, another time, limiting the requests to only songs
written by Southside? That would be fun and would help us, forget about Time, stop Running Wild with choices....

NYE

Postby Lin » January 2nd, 2013, 6:22 pm

Thanks Southside and ALL the Jukes (and especially the LOVEMAN for being at the Count Basie show) for helping us all get through another year and another NYE in the company of good friends and great music!! and THANKS also for the CD gift! 13 GREAT tracks....it certainly made me have something to look forward to on my first day back to work after the winter break. In fact, I was having such a good time listening, singing along, and remembering NYE that I totally missed the turn for work and was a mile down the road before I realized it!
Til the next show....wishing everyone a better year!

Question:-

A few years ago, I was at the gig at Morristown, which the band did with a High School string section. It was sublime. AFAIK, it's one of the few (the only?) times where they did their early stuff the way it sounded on those first three albums.

Is there any YouTube or other recording of that gig anywhere?

Please say yes.

Bringing in the new year with Southside in Red Bank after a terrible year for Jersey was a great idea! The band was tight, he was in good voice and the mature crowd knew every lyric while dancing in the aisles. The music and the band are truly timeless.
