Last night's pre-show events also featured a very well-deserved plug for the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, http://www.foodbankmoc.org/

If you missed the bucket being passed through the audience, please check them out.

The band was on fire for their Nashville debut at City Winery. The room was amazing. It was a wall of sound washing over with Johnny's voice as soothing as a warm Gulf wave in August. Not the best recording, but here's my favorite track from Soultime". It's all I can do to keep it together listening to Johnny and Jeff trade verses.

trevor, " very special guest " is simple a technical term for a support act TBA. could be absolutely anyone. have to say over many years there has been chat on here about billy rush. where is he, what is he doing. etc etc. he had become very reclusive it seemed. it was a great pleasure and so pleased to see a photo of billy with the band. we can now put all our thoughts and rumours to bed so to speak.

Southside was his usual hilarious self in Coral Springs {a suburb of Ft. Lauderdale}. At one point started bragging about his new sneakers only to tell us how uncomfortable they are. Sat down on the drum riser while the band played and took them off {called Hood for scissors because he couldn't get the laces undone on one of them} and did half the show barefoot. We knew they were uncomfortable because even after he took them off he swore a lot more than usual. Crowd loved it and heard at least one reference from the audience to At Least We Got Shoes.

Also surprised us by announcing that Mr. & Mrs. Billy Rush were in the audience. Billy didn't get up and play and I left before seeing him after the show so I don't know if he got mobbed. Hope he did - he was an important part of that band when they was growin' up.

RIP TJ Tindall

With the Soul Shows now coming up (and thanks in advance) I am saddened to inform Jukesville of the passing of the great guitarist, TJ Tindall.

The band (and especially Glenn) will know who he is, but for those of you who don't, TJ was the house guitarist (and paleface) of the Gamble/Huff Philadelphia International hit factory responsible for pretty much all of the non-sucky disco.

The lead singer knows.

I fondly remember a Valentines Day gig at the Pony, '86?, when some late-to-the-stage Juke, and recent passing of 'Land Of 1000 Dances' singer, Frankie 'Cannibal' Garcia, somehow morphed into 'The Love I Lost', and how, rather magically, the horns just fucking nailed it.

Anyhow, please allow me to request/suggest, some tribute to TJ Tindall, a gentleman musician from the great city of Trenton, NJ, at the upcoming (and sure to be amazing) soul shows.

Musicians Lives Matter

Peace TJ, Peace

Never mind. Looks like Southside's webmaster corrected the date…April 15th it is.

anyone coming to clearwater friday - its outdoors at night, will be upper 40's-50 by showtime. Dress accordingly. I dont know if there's a warmup band, there usually is one at blast friday which means they wont come on til 8-830.

A weather update from Jukes Central:

This weekend's shows are cancelled due to the impending storm. Information about rescheduling will come soon.

We may actually get some snow, huh?

Stay safe, Jukians!

...this is a DREAM COME TRUE!

I feared they won't play in Germany again, 'cause they don't have for five long years and now a whole tour - what a great surprise! Aspecially after the release of such a fantastic record like SOULTIME!
I've been at every show in Osnabrück and Melle since 2003 and at the Paradiso Amsterdam in 2006 and every time since 2009 as well.

I try to be at all of the shows listed above. In Hamburg I'll party with at least ten friends and family members of mine in front of the stage. How else can I support the Jukes? Is there an opportunity to set up a Jukes street team over here? I spread the word on facebook. Do you also have posters, flyers or any other stuff to give away here in Hamburg? Or does your local promotor have some for me?

Please contact me, if there is something I can do to try to make the German shows a real success worth repeating!
Yours,
Martin
